After more than 700 performances over the course of a century, Jedermann is a central part of the Salzburg Festival’s DNA, and it keeps making history anew: a singular process in German-language theatre. This summer the Burgtheater star Caroline Peters takes on a role which is always the focus of attention: the Paramour. To director Sturminger, Jedermann essentially poses the question: „What happens when death enters our life? Death has been repressed by our culture to an unprecedented degree, if you consider human history. We ty to shield ourselves from our transience and to confront it as little as possible, but ultimately we all know: in order to lead a mindful life, it is necessary to find a well-reflected approach to death. That is part of life.”
